Trip to Pavagadh
Hello Friends,
Recently i had a solo trip to Pavagadh. It's a beautiful place in Gujarat State of India. It is known for Mahakali Temple which draws thousands of pilgrims everyday. Before starting the journey let me brief the history of the Pavagadh.
It's a pilgrimage spot, called the Shakti Peeth, the Pavagadh hill leads to the hill
top temple of the Goddess Kali, who is the incarnation of the Goddesses
Parvati, Durga, and Sati as Shakti or power. The mythological belief makes the
Pavagadh hill popular is the symbolic toe of the Goddess Sati, who happened to
have fallen on earth as the grief-stricken Lord Shiva, Sati’s husband, carried
her dead body on his shoulders. The myths and religious fervor attracts around
2.5 million pilgrims and tourists to Pavagadh each year.

I planned trip to Pavagadh from Ahmedabad. I went to Vadodara, from there i got a bus which takes pilgrims to the Pavagadh. It takes around a hour to reach the destination. It drops at Pavagadh stop. From there i took another bus which drops me to the Pavagadh hill where the pilgrims starts their journey to Temple. It's a last stop and the distance between these two stops is around 6-7 Km. The path has steep turns. I started my journey from Vadodara at 7:30 and reached at 9:15 at last stop.
I started my journey as others. After stepping up 5-10 stairs. there are two ways to move towards the hill top: one is RopeWay path and the other one is via stairs.
Rope way to climb up the Pavagadh Hill Top
There are total 2000 steps. If one choose Rope way then only 250 steps need to be climbed up from there. I saw many people chose the 2000 steps to climb up instead of Rope Way. So i decided to go with them. Many 5-10 years kids also stepping up with their parents and they are very energetic and enthusiastic. I take a deep breathe and start my journey with the name of God. It was really a hot day. It is advisable to visit pavagadh in rainy or Winter if you are planning to climb 2000 steps. I stepped up a few stairs and took the picture of scenic view. View was so scenic if you are nature lover then definitely you'll forget how much stairs you stepped up. I think that is my source of energy while stepping the 2000 stairs.
I reached at the temple within 1hr. Thare was a long queue of pilgrims to have a glimpse of Mahakali's Statue. Sukhadi (Prashad) was also good. I stepped down. it took less time to down.
I came to the Pavagadh Bus Stop.
There is a small village in Pavagadh. There is a magic Stone which named "Ghumta Pathar" (Rotating Stone). The belief is you have to sit on that stone and make a wish, if your wish will come true then the stone will start rotating otherwise it won't rotate. This stone is kept in Dargah, located opposite side of Pavagadh bus stop. As I believe in science so i go there and check whether it is true or not. I sat on the stone and made a wish. After few seconds i felt a force which forcing me to rotate and the magnitude of the force is too high.I was rotated two time in clockwise direction. There is some magic which forces the stone to be rotated. It was awesome experience.
It is advisable if you go Pavagadh then must visit "Ghumta Pathar" (Magic Stone).
It was a memorable and adventurous trip. One should visit Pavagadh once .
